What the hell did they want him to do--reverse the orbit of the Earth like at the end of "Superman" to thwart the attempt?

I keep waiting for some prominent public figure to make this point. Presumably it's just not in any public figure's self-interest; the "Senator X doesn't care about the safety of Americans!" ad pretty much writes itself. But what's sad is that while our material standard of living and creature comforts are evidently "non-negotiable," our values and dignity sure seem to be.

As for contacting me, there's an email button at the end of the links list.Davidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06427208386709900367noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6859126.post-44520760678764728292009-12-29T09:06:32.031-08:002009-12-29T09:06:32.031-08:00David, I couldn't find a way to contact you, s...David, I couldn't find a way to contact you, so I'll use this:

You might find this article interesting-

http://www.cnn.com/2009/OPINION/12/29/schneier.air.travel.security.theater/index.html

"Despite fearful rhetoric to the contrary, terrorism is not a transcendent threat. A terrorist attack cannot possibly destroy a country's way of life; it's only our reaction to that attack that can do that kind of damage. The more we undermine our own laws, the more we convert our buildings into fortresses, the more we reduce the freedoms and liberties at the foundation of our societies, the more we're doing the terrorists' job for them."

LLAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
