But Strickland... well, um, yeah. That's desperation.

Then again the Broncos, who evidently had an exceptionally lousy defense last year, are seemingly pretty desperate.Davidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06427208386709900367noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6859126.post-58937073639637716582009-03-01T18:45:00.000-08:002009-03-01T18:45:00.000-08:00Correction to no. 1: they already make tripe. Given the bodily damage they suffer and the brevity of their careers, and the profitability of their industry, they should make tripe or quadruple what they do. I'd feel a little better about vets getting cut unmercifully if they'd gotten bigger cuts earlier.

2. It's weird that NFL teams are so inconsistent about who they acquire. The Broncos, of all teams, surely know that running backs are fungible and short-lived, yet they just acquired 11-year vet Fred Taylor. The Eagles have usually been better-a-year-too-early, but then they went and picked up Jevon Kearse. And Levon Strickland. I dunno, maybe there were salary cap and/or severe positional deficit reasons for those moves. But they do look odd.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
