We'll be referring your resume to the DEA now..."Davidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06427208386709900367noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6859126.post-19022930774383427002008-11-16T12:40:00.000-08:002008-11-16T12:40:00.000-08:00I just don't like that I probably have to submit b...I just don't like that I probably have to submit backshegoes posts to see if I pass muster.Chrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17718746542807866675noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6859126.post-85533779652546151752008-11-12T21:12:00.000-08:002008-11-12T21:12:00.000-08:00"Smithers, have the Rolling Stones killed." Given that he's a city guy himself, and he'll be hearing about how policies play back home, I think there's reason for relative optimism.Davidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06427208386709900367noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6859126.post-42840822759003006732008-11-12T19:09:00.000-08:002008-11-12T19:09:00.000-08:00The only thing not to like about an Office of Urba...The only thing not to like about an Office of Urban Policy is that it reminds me of something Clinton once said, about how he wanted someone in the room at Cabinet meetings so they could be the voice for [some important group - children, I think]. Maybe this is naive or unrealistic, but I didn't see why there should be only one person standing up for some disadvantaged group - you ought to be able to assemble a Cabinet of sufficiently progressive and like-minded folks that everyone is considering policy with an eye on how it affects that group. I'm not saying Obama's OUP will be balkanized that way; I just have a slight concern at the possibility that there would be one appointee saying "here's how energy/transportation/etc. policy needs to be structured to help cities" and the Secretary of Energy/Transportation/Whatever shouts back "the hell with you! Do as I say! Bring me the Rolling Stones!"Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
